If one or more young ladies on a campus would like to charter a chapter, they then contact our HQ to find out the process. This includes having a minimum number of qualified prospects, approvals from the school (if it is a campus-based chapter,) the sorority's regional director, national vice presdents and national president. We also have city-wide collegiate chapters that do not require a specific school's approval.
Again, the assumption is if these young ladies are interested in starting a chapter, then they must have already done the research into the org. And chances are they know someone already in the org.which led them to research it in the first place.
BTW, we have international chapters and international projects, so it is possible for an African or a Carribean immigrant to know of us.
