Wait Taualumna,
You are putting
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. in the same sentance with a clueless interest...
Now, I have issues with that concept alone!!! My Sorority has enough members, worldwide, that we have little reason to recruit for active membership.
If we CHOOSE to charter a chapter ANYWHERE, there are legalities that MUST occur and corporate agreements. ESPECIALLY when we cross country borders because there may be differing corporate laws with who my Sorority does business versus what is allowable in Canada... A commission from my Sorority would have to be organized to investigate the efficacy and the efficiency to charter ANY chapter on ANYWHERE...
Where my Sorority has concern is even if we decide to charter in a given city or campus, will its membership be maintained? How about retention? Will it follow the ideals and programs of my Sorority and attend all the required conferences to be a chapter? These prerequisites MUST be proven over a significant period of time even before the charter gets signed...
Therefore, my Sorority might have YET to be interested in fathoming a charter somewhere else unless there is an ESSENTIAL need...
If there are ladies who have an interest in my Sorority, ALL of my sorors are instructed in repetition:
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
Why? It is about "pearl protection"... And I refuse to go into anymore detail than that...
