My late aunt used to make it. You make it like homemade bread, BUT you place the dough in a bundt cake pan. After it has baked, you turn the pan upside down, like you would a pound cake. When you want your piece, you pull the "piece" you want.
I don't know why it's called monkey bread, but it's good!
