Interesting stuff I found in the 1928 yearbook...
I had to look up something in the 1928 yearbook today for work and I found some interesting things.
Ole Miss had three local sororities at one point.
Kappa Sigma Tau, Gamma Chapter founded in 1927 at Ole Miss. They were nationally founded at Northwestern in 1922.
Beta Sigma Omicron, Alpha Kappa Chapter was founded in 1927 at Ole Miss. They were founded nationally at the U of MO in 1888. Their colors are the same as DZ and so is their flower, is this the group that later became the Beta Beta Chapter of Delta Zeta at Ole Miss?
Tau Delta was founded at Ole Miss in 1926 in hopes of merging with a national sorority. I wonder if maybe ZTA who was founded at Ole Miss in 1939 absorbed them or if another group absorbed them. The might not have affliated with a national group and just fizzled out. ZTA is the only group with founding dates near this time that is why I sort of guessed them. I know it isn't KD, Chi Omega, DG, Phi Mu, Tri Delta because they were all in this yearbook along with these three locals.
I was also looking in like a 1900 yearbook and there was a sorority with the name: Sigma, Sigma Sigma. It had a comma after the first Sigma. I don't think this is the group that became Tri Delta in 1904, that was another group.
Interesting stuff... there were also a bunch of fraternities that I am not familiar with, but I'm more into the sorority history.
