The state is both. The northern part of WV is northern. The southern/western part of WV is southern.
ETA: As to the original purpose of this thread, I thought the website was quite humorous. Quite a bit of foul language, but I laughed and laughed and laughed. I didn't think it was anything that was to be taken
too seriously.
