You know what I find interesting? While one is no longer a pledge, but a new member, in AGD, at least, you still "pledge" the GLO and the new member pin is called the pledge pin (according to my 2003-2004 New Member Guide, anyway). I guess you can't turn new member into a verb, but I find the terminology for the pin interesting.

In DPhiE, we finally decided that our new members "affilliate" or participate in new member orientation. I've had to resist the urge to say they are "orienting" or "new membering."
Our pin is a "new member pin."
My head is now spinning from reading this forum and all these terms!
