Oh no! How awful for you and Karl! I am so sorry that things seem to be overwhelming you at the moment. In our family we have a saying for times like these: "This too shall pass". Though these obstacles keep coming, and they seem to stick around for ages, you have to keep in mind it just won't go *forever*. It will pass. One thing I believe is that one cannot know complete joy unless they know what it is to suffer. For example, when you *do* get a house, you will love it more for the wait. When Karl's condition is better, you will appreciate what it means to be healthy. And, given that a dear friend has been lost unexpectedly, Karl will have a greater appreciation for the people he loves and also a better understanding of how to have respect for others when it comes time for him to inform someone of sad news.
I truly hope that you both will find comforting moments in the coming weeks!
