This is true. 19E owns your soul until after the season and tours are over if you don't win. This is even if you don't get beyond Hollywood... but make it there.
And this also includes any TV time. In order to avoid another Will Hung situation, 19E made everyone sign a contract that if they were shown on TV and didn't make it, they wouldn't go bouncing off to some record label until after the season. This is per TWoP, so take it for what it's worth.
Sadness about Mario... I figured he was the golden boi but now I wonder what they will do now that he's gone? Pimp Carrie to no end? I hope they aren't going to pimp Constantcrap... my guess is that they'll try to make Anwar the man. At least he can sing and seems interesting. Mario, though he could sing, seemed forgettable IMO.
