I don't know exactly how the recruitment thing works, but I'm guessing it's word of mouth. The other fraternity I'm talking about has *SOME* brothers who deal drugs. I know a pusher who gets his stash from brothers. I do know about their status and story because it was in the campus newspaper the year before I came to school. Alot of it has died down now or just gone underground, but it's still hard to forget about it.
If their HQ recognizes the former chapter members as alums, then they have every right to wear their letters. And of course, associate with each other as fellow students and friends.

However, "pledges" wearing letters - while not being actual (legal?) members of the fraternity but some sort of drug club, as it were - is not right.

Seems rather pathetic all around.
