Okay the difference in language and slang is important to me... after-all the stories are taking place in the UK, so the character of the story should reflect that (slang, expressions, and such)... I'm a bit of a purist when it comes to the language of a story so for me it's the UK english (well thats all we really get up here anyways
).
As for the different covers - Canada does it too; and purely as a marketing tool. Some people like the stories but don't wan't to be seen reading a "children's" book - so you sell it to them by having a more serious or "adult" cover. So for example:
Children's Edition/Cover
Adult's Edition/Cover
The adult's definitely appears more "sophisitcated" or "serious" - which again will appeal to those who don't want to appear to be reading a "children's" book.
