The industry needs to look at all ages, too. I had dinner with a sorority sister who works in fashion merchandising. She was telling me that almost all of the major clothing chains are trying desperately to find ways to appeal to active women between 40 and 60 who are willing to spend money to look tasteful, hence the rapid expansion of Talbots and Chicos. They're too old for Gap and Abercrombie, but they aren't ready for the Sears and JCPenney crowd.
