Psychedelic Toilet Sale

Saturday the men of Beta Theta Pi (U of Cincinnati) carried out their annual non-profit philanthropic venture - the Psychedelic Toilet Sale.

The Betas will deliver cleaned-up and decorated toilets in and around the Cincinnati area from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., raising money for the Literacy Center West, a Price Hill organization for improving literacy in the area.

Beta Theta Pi member Adam Hildebrand, a fourth year marketing student, first coordinated the toilet sale three years ago when he was looking for an interesting way to get Beta involved in the community.

The sale was a success from the start, initially earning $2,000 for the Literacy Center.

The purchaser of the toilet chooses a third party to "dump on," and Beta will drop the toilet in their front lawn, according to fraternity members.

If someone gets dumped on and doesn't want the gift, $10 can be paid to have the toilet removed and pass it on to someone else.

Paying an additional $15 ensures that the toilet will not be returned: "Toilet insurance," said Jason Steinhauer, a third-year operations management student.

At 4 p.m. the dumping ends and all proceeds are collected and sent to Literacy Center.

If students are interested in getting involved, they can purchase a toilet and "dump on" a friend or family member, Beta members said.

Visit www.Beta.chris-stone.com to purchase a "psychedelic" toilet and have it dumped on the lawn of your choice for $20. More details at: http://www.newsrecord.org/news/2005/...t-875209.shtml
