I understand why most of us care, because we feel that underground chapters are a legal and thus financial threat to our organizations.
I have been *personally* involved in several efforts to get schools to stop listing themselves as having a chapter of our fraternity at the school although the National Organization has declared them inactive. I have also been involved in an effort to publish notices in the campus newspaper at one school informing the entire campus that there is no longer a recognized colony of our fraternity at the campus and that any activities they do are in direct opposition to the desires of the National Fraternity.
