i guess i'm in the minority in more ways than one....
i just watched this movie, all I knew about it, is that the subject matter is about boxing and it's up for a lot of academy awards.....
i had no clue about the controversy until i came to gc today and saw this thread
so for me the answer to your question is yes and this movie for me was it
where is the hidden agenda in this movie? (disregard the above review), if you hadn't read this review or heard about the controversy, wouldn't this fit the below criteria of a good movie?
to me the answer is again yes
thre also is another movie that comes to mind, Closer, no hidden agenda either, good movie, also love, actually
all (ok not all, but most) movies have some sort of message, isn't that the point of a story....to have a message? it really doesn't have to be a profound message
i think the message of Closer is Trust, i could say the message of love, actually is the message of the movie and seeing all the different forms it takes
the message (for me) of million dollar baby is also love, paternal love and how it was found, lost, lucky enough to find again, only have to loose it again....
