Roanoke is beautiful and the people are friendly and the cost of living is very, very low. Mr. KR almost took a job there and I was disappointed when he decided not to.
One thing to keep in mind...you have a little one, right? Virginia has some excellent state universities (UVA and William and Mary especially) and state residents have a much easier time gaining admittance plus the instate tuition is practically painless. Never too early to consider college!
