transferring

you might ask one of your chapter advisors to write you a letter of introduction to one of the new chapters advisors. when one of the members of the chapter i advise transferred to a much larger school, i contacted the new chapters general advisor and their recruitment advisor(only because i know her) to let them know that the girl would be transferring and was thinking of affiliating. i figured that it would help pave the way for her, and that the information would be shared with the new chapter, so that they would already know a little about the girl before she got there-kind of like the recommendation letters we write for pnm's. if the chapter you are affiliating with has fall formal recruitment, you may want to go ahead and contact them this spring, because you might get lost in the shuffle of the confusion that is formal recruitment at a large southern school;i.e. they will be so intent on preparing for and executing a successful recruitment that that time might not be the best time for you to get to know them. if contacting them in the spring doesn't work out, i would say wait until after their formal recruitment(unless it is a deferred fall formal recruitment). get to know the girls, hang out with them, have lunch or dinner at their house and see if you like them.and don't be shy-you already have your sorority in common. that's a start!! good luck. lisa
