The entire HU family is mourning. The school's flag was lowered to half mast. Ossie Davis was a graduate of Howard University and regularly held fundraisers for his Alma Mater. He spoke at the 2004 Charter Day last fall. I am kicking myself for missing it.

I also missed Charter Day, but I saw him many time because he was extremely generous with his time at Howard. He regularly came back to campus to visit various departments.

Ever since I heard of his death, I keep thinking of his eulogy to Malcolm X. Many of the same things could be said about Davis.
