Your pancreas makes insulin. It's pretty important so I thought you should know. Should it become inflamed, it's called pancreatitis and it is EXTREMELY painful. Everyone will assume you either have a gall bladder problem or that you're an alcoholic. When they find nothing wrong with your gall bladder, the hospital social worker will come talk to you, even if you only drink a glass of wine two times a year.
Back on topic. I'm pretty sure I'll be dead by 2042, but I am still concerned about the whole issue. You are absolutely right that you can't expect Social Security to be your whole retirement. My mom gets a whopping $792 a month from SS and pays $531 a month for prescriptions. Good thing she has other funds. I hope not too many people are as misinformed about those myths. I'm not sure what the answer is for fixing it. I would want to see a detailed plan about privatization of Social Security before forming a complete opinion about it. I hope whatever they come up with, that it's better than the Medicare prescription plan.
