When I was a student at OU (the University of Oklahoma, not the University of Ohio
) many native Okies thought I hailed from that wide spot on the road in far northeast Oklahoma instead of that vibrant, cosmopolitan city by the sea in Florida!
BTW, the wide spot in the road in Oklahoma is pronounced "My-am-uh"; "My-am-ee" is how the Magic City is pronounced. (Unless you're from Latin America; many pronounce it "Mee-am-ee".
