Minor point of order:
The "right-wing conservative christian groups" are usually comprised of Evangelical Protestants. They don't have a whole lot to do w/ Catholics, many don't even consider them Christians at all.
When analyzing who is saying what to whom about what, details are important and often missed in news sound bites.
