A Reason to Believe

Greetings!

In September, 1995 a movie entitled "A Reason to Believe" was released by Castle Hill Productions. Its cast included, mostly, TV actors: Allison Smith, Jay Underwood, Danny Quinn, Keith Coogan, and Kim Walker. The movie was filmed at the University of Cincinnati and at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. There are a number of Lambda Chi connections: the Director/Writer Douglas Tirola is the son of a ZU-Zeta Lambda Chi, Vince Tirola; Vince and his wife are listed as Producers of the film; our Chapter House was used as a staging and rest area for the cast and crew; and some key scenes were filmed in the House. We had just put $25,000 in our kitchen and, because it was so new and clean, they decided to film an important confrontational scene in that area. Another important scene was filmed in what was portrayed as our Chapter Room. In reality, it was our main stairwell! It was used because we had a number of great composite pictures hanging there on a real nice brick wall. It was funny seeing how they "jammed" a bunch of actors together and filmed it so that it does pass as a "Chapter Room." If you ever see the movie take a good look over the right shoulder of the President as he speaks and you will notice a very clear Lambda Chi Alpha Coat of Arms! They covered Lambda Chi Alpha with another, made-up, fraternity name but not the COA! And, if you have "X-Ray" vision you will be able to see me! Unfortunatly, the guy couldn't move and my composite picture was hidden behind his right shoulder! Oh, well!

It is not a great movie! But it did attempt to take on the important issues of "date rape" and racism. It is fun for ZU-Zeta Brothers to watch because of the use of the Chapter House in the movie.

The movie is available on Amazon.com for under $20.00 for a used copy.

Yours in ZAX,

Mike Raymond, ZU-Z
