We had a group on our campus that raised money for the American Cancer Society each year by getting each chapter to have someone volunteer to get their hair "done" , and the "winner" picked by penny voting (or $10s & 20s). As an added bonus, I would let the chapter that collected the most money shave their letters into my hair! Of course it was a big added incentive to shave your chapter's letters into the Greek Advisor's head in the middle of the Quad during Springfest, so each year they raise over $2,000. Then when the semester is over, (this is about 2 weeks before the end), I just go get my head shaved. The first year was really bad though, because they didn't use actual hair clippers, but a beard and mustache trimmer (ouch) . The poor Alpha Kappa Lambda president that "won" had his hair positively butchered (plus it hurts trying to cut that much hair with a little trimmer).
