Back from LA/Phoenix as of 1 a.m. this morning - had an absolute blast. Am sunbaked and in pain and broke, but it was all worth it! Heres a rundown of how things went.
Three of us girls ended up going)both were my college roomies at some point in time at SIUC), taking a flight from St. Louis to Phoenix and then renting a car. Flight was okay. My head hurt like something else as we landed.
Arizona is awesome; temperature in Phoeniz was about 110 degrees during the day. First day - we went and visited Arizona State University. Lunched at Fat Tuesdays Downtown Tempe and sampled some of the 30 or so frozen concontions,, and you got free cups out of the deal. Swindled a few more cups - just enough for a dinner set to match the yellow plastic plates picked up at Walmart on sale.
Next day we set out for Los Angeles, a 5.5 hour trip through the desert. There are some wacked out windmills right as you get to Palm Springs. Hundreds of them power some small town in Utah, and they wonder why they need power outages in Cali. Hit the outlet stores in Cabazon, and finally got to LA. Chacked into our Courtyard Marriot by the LA Airport and crashed till 6 p.m.
Went out that night to Drago's Ristorante - a sweet little dish in Santa Monica. Then headed to the lobby of the Mondrain hotel and worked our way up to Skybar. The bar had a cute atmosphere, pillows and candles galore. And all of us girls met boys, some from an Austrailian band called Supanatural, and lawyers celebrating the second year of their law firm. One of those lawyers included - "Chunk" from the Goonies movie.
Saturday morning we hit 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica and headed to Newport Beach for the day. At night headed back up to Sunset Strip (a place called Red Rock) in Hollywood with some guys from our hometown, one that had recently moved out to LA with his parents and the other who was visiting.
Sunday, we went to Universal Studios (which was a blast), came home and crashed. Monday we went to Venice Beach, Rodeo Drive and the UCLA campus. We stayed with the Alpha Chi's at University of California-Irvine at the last minute - they are an awesome house and I'm so happy they are my sisters.
Tuesday, we hit the beach again ( a little running in the morning) and baked in the sun. Drove back to Phoenix that afternoon.
And hopped on a plane last night. I wish my vacation didn't have to end! But I am headed back to school tomorrow.
Hope you enjoy my little reminiscance!

Too many times we stand aside and let the waters slip away. 'Til what we put off 'til tomorrow has now become today. So don't you sit upon the shoreline and say you're satisfied. Choose to chance the rapids and dare to dance the tide. ~ "The River" Garth Brooks
