It was out of Men's Health, I want to say 9 months ago or so (last winter - I can't remember the referenced study). I totally agree with you, though - i think the point was more that most people don't follow the diet correctly, and their diets sucked so badly to begin with that nearly identical gains were seen by those who cut out simple carbohydrates. Again - I don't argue the validity of the diet; it's worked for so many people that it becomes obvious that the diet can definitely work, and be healthy.
