I know this topic is so old but I
had to bring it back because this was just too much!
Last year I took a public speaking class and I was the only "one of us" in the class and this football player. He was not a regular football player, they normally don't come to class, don't do any work, and that is pretty much what everyone was use to. This guy gained everyone's respect because he would come to class and actually contribute so I was proud of him UNTIL this boy (I had to call him a boy) gave a speech on how Detroit was one of the most dangerous cities in the U.S. (He is from Detroit) And he had the ignorance to be proud of that and he even said that the reason the city was so violent was because of all of the BLACK people in Detroit!!!!!!!!!!!!! I almost died right there in that class!!! Mind you, we are in one of the whitest cities in America (Springfield, MO) and he just confirmed all of the stereotypes! I still cannot look him in the eye to this day!
