UW (AKA) University of Washington is in Washington State (Seattle) (it is ALWAYS University of Washington, NEVER Washington University)
Wazzu (Washington State University) is in Pullman, WA (and is also NEVER referred to as Washington University)
Wash U is Washington University in St. Louis (or Washington University). It is a private university in St. Louis, Missouri that is one of the best schools in the country (according to US World and News Report it's #11)
For a long time my chapter as a Fundraiser sold shirts that said:
Washington University...it's in St. Louis Dammit! Because SO many people get confused...this isn't the first time.
