It would depend on whether the memberfriend asked at the very close to the event date then I would weigh my options and find out if i can fit them both in my schedule. If I could not do both then it depends on the other function. If it's my son's activities, then I would have to explain to the memberfriend why I would not be able to attend the function and let the memberfriend know I would like to attend future events.

Would you think it was fair of the memberfriend to refrain from extending future invitations?
I think the memberfriend would try to understand my situation and still extend invitations.
