My questions:
Why do SFs ask "bold" questions on the internet, but won't DARE ask a Soror in person?
Supposed anonymity.
Why do SOME SFs ask some of the most ridiculous questions without searching for the answer, if a answer exists?
Same answer as the above question. On the internet, people consider themselves faceless.
Why do SFs 'flip flop' orgs they are so-called interested in?
I will never understand this. Because BLGO are supposed to be lifetime commitments, I would think you would do everything within your power to make sure you are choosing the best fit. To me, from an interest perspective, it is like a marriage (lifetime commitment). I would never go into marriage unsure, so I certainly wouldn't pledge to work for an organization for life if I was unsure. I think those who choose this option just want to belong. I know people who have done this. And once they finally got into an organization, they did NO work for it.
Why do SFs "claim" they want to be a member of XYZ, then become a member and DON'T DO JACK?
They wanted to join to belong to something, anything.
Is it worth thousands of dollars to become a member of XYZ, when you can do community service for free?
No, but it is worth a thousand dollars to keep something you believe in stable and growing. If you donate to certain charities, a portion of your donation goes to the organization to cover administrative costs.
Do you really want to become a member of an organization for the RIGHT reasons, or are you trying to get a man? get attention?
Yes, for the right reason. Just being a member of any group will not get you a man or the type of attention that you necessarily want. I look for nothing to complete me because I am whole. However, I am drawn to things and people that compliment my dreams, goals, beliefs and values.
Why is it that SOME SFs purport to know everything there is to know about greekdom, but have yet to become a member?
This, I do not know. One cannot know everything from the outside looking in. And even once you are in the Greek life, I would assume (and I know I shouldn't assume) there is a learning curve.
Why put on a facade to try to get sponsorship?
I can't speak for everyone, but I can speak for the sisterfriends that I know...it is never a facade. We simply put our best foot forward, just as we would on a job interview.
Why look to an organization to define who you are? Why not have a sense of self BEFORE you join?
I hope interests have a true sense of self. I think this one is a case by case basis
Why is the sky blue?
A clear cloudless day-time sky is blue because molecules in the air scatter blue light from the sun more than they scatter red light. When we look towards the sun at sunset, we see red and orange colours because the blue light has been scattered out and away from the line of sight.
Why are there tsunamis?
Tsunamis can be generated when the sea floor abruptly deforms and vertically displaces the overlying water. Tectonic earthquakes are a particular kind of earthquake that are associated with the earth's crustal deformation; when these earthquakes occur beneath the sea, the water above the deformed area is displaced from its equilibrium position. Waves are formed as the displaced water mass, which acts under the influence of gravity, attempts to regain its equilibrium. When large areas of the sea floor elevate or subside, a tsunami can be created.
