Now that MTV's turned 20, I hope that Nickelodeon will also do a similar nostalgia event.
Nick *did* do a 20th anniversary event in the summer of 1999. Nickelodeon premiered on April 01, 1979.

Unfortunately, the anniversary "celebration" was a load of shit. It was all about the Rugrats (a show that didn't gain popularity until it had been out of production for years - it was just rerun so much that it gained a fan base after 5 or 6 years and was put back into production) and All That (one of the worst abominations and wastes of video ever).

Anyway...the nostalgia weekend was held over the last weekend in June '99. It featured very very few shows from Nick's early days. There was no Pinwheel, no Today's Special, nothing from Nick's lean years. There were maybe 3 episodes of YCDTOTV (all featuring Alanis Morisette) and 1 of Double Dare.

It was very insulting and disappointing to those of us born before 1990. In '99 Nick also had an exhibit at the Museum of TV and Radio in NYC, celebrating its 20th anniversary.

Maybe if all of us 80s kids start a letter writing campaign to Nickelodeon, we can get a PROPER 25th anniversary
