Going 5th year

I had a question for you girls out there. I am currently a senior and will be student teaching in the fall. I am almost 24 and this is my 5th yeah in college. School is not very easy for me and it takes a lot for me to do so good in school. So I have to work really hard to take as many classes as I am taking.
Also I feel like I don't really have much in common with most of the girls in my chapter. They are mostly freshman and sophomores and much younger than me. I thought about it for a while and I decided to go 5th year alumus status. Well come to find out I was told that I can have absolutely no contact with the my chapter. I think this is rediculous. Nationals think just because you want to go alumni that you can't have anything to do with your chapter. I just wanted to ask if any of you have heard about this. I don't think it is fair. If I wanted no contact with them I would have quit but that's not what I did. I just don't have much time for activities 5 days a week.

Sorry this was so long but I was just curious what everyone else thinks about it. Thanks!
