That's what's supposed to happen with Barnes & Noble as well - but they won't make you wait 6 months to get all your items if one thing (or even multiple items) aren't in stock as of yet. Almost every order I've placed with them of multiple items has wound up shipping at different times, although I always choose "ship everything together".
