School administration has the right to dictate their student's fashion - which they do via the school's dress code. If they told her not to wear it and she did, then she broke the rules, plain and simple.

Its no different that if a female student wore a string bikini to school (calm down guys ), and it violated the school's dress code. She should be sent home or punished.

Same thing applies here.

I was thinking about this myself after I posted. I would probably not even think twice about it, if she had just "out of the blue" showed up at the prom wearing it. But the fact that she asked the school's administration WAY beforehand tells me that she knew that something may not have been right about wearing it - and after hearing their response of "no, don't wear it' , she decides to wear it anyway? Very interesting....
