Ooh JocelynC, doesn't sound like a good experience. Sending happy Sigma vibes your way.

Yes, I live in University housing, in an all postgraduate student building about two minutes away from my department, which is really nice when it comes to Monday morning seminars. In general, it's a good atmosphere, everyone tries to be friendly and social.
But there are a few people, one with long thick dark hair who doesn't clean it out of the showers, and some random idiot who thinks flushing the toilet isn't necessary, that turn a good situation into a frustrating one sometimes. And apparently, some people have made it all the way to graduate school without knowing how to do the washing up in the kitchen! I mean honestly, if you can do a Masters or a PhD, how hard can it be to extrapolate knowledge to fit the situation of taking the soap + a sponge + hot water + a dirty plate = washing, rinsing and drying?! Oh well.
I think the only real downside to where I'm living now is the fact that we're right next to St. Salvator's Hall, the giant, posh first year dorm. And last week, some idiot got into our building and broke the fire glass, sending us outside at 2am in the cold, windy street. Grrr. The joys of communal living.
