Hey sorors,

We are really having some haters of Gamma Sigma Sigma on our campus. We are a new colony at Francis Marion University and we have our share of haters. First of all it is like this I am a member of a social sorority (ZphiB) as well as Gamma Sig and my sorors as well as others don't have a problem with Gamma Sig except for the ladies of crimson and cream. Regardless of the fact that a member of this sorority is one of the founding members of the colony, they seem to have a problem with our organization party hopping, chanting, doing our call, and throwing up our sign. They feel that if we are not a social organization then why should we do what social organizations do. Personally I feel that they are just hating, because if all of our ideals are based on communtiy service why is party hopping and chanting such a big issue to them. Seems to me that they need to get their founding principles in order. I just wanted to know how other organizations see Gamma Sig on your campuses and how you are treated as an organiztion (respected, dissed, hated on, etc).

P.S. I think they are just mad because they are not the larges sorority on the yard anymore (Gamma Sig has 47 charter members).
Welcome to GC Soror!! It's always nice to have another Gamma Sig in the building and I hope things are well at FMU.

To address your post: I don't like to look at it as "hating". Hate is a strong word. I just look at it as people who don't understand what we're about. Yes, we are a sorority based on SERVICE, but we like to have our fun too. And that's just like any other GLO on the yard. Plus, you guys are new and that's just what comes with being new. You just keep doing what ya'll do, and it will pass.

I was a charter member of my chapter (Zeta Tau) and we went through the same things ya'll are, and lots of other GSS chapters have too. Just conduct yourselves as the ladies I know you are, keep the service on point and most importantly have pride in Gamma Sig. People will notice! And if folks still have something to say, look at it as free publicity as they are taking the time out to even mention Gamma Sig
