My Top 10 Are As Follows:
1. Black people age gracefully. See Earth Kitt, Lynn Whitfield, Phyllicia Rashad, Diahann Carroll
2. We can turn nothing into something. See chitt'lins.
3. Our hair is versatile. This may have taken me a while to love it, as I was blinded by a European standard of beauty. But we can go from 'fro to long flowing locks just as fast as we want, and look good both ways.
4. Our history. Often full of pain and strife but we continue to overcome.
5. Our athletic prowess. I know it is a stereotype but in almost every professional sport, we dominate! Michael Jordan is the greatest basketball player eva, Venus and Serena, Tiger Woods, Barry Bonds, TO!!!
6. Our creativity. We are the most innovative people around and everyone tries to mimic us, from our music to our style of dress. Don't other people know that black people invented Rock and Roll!!!
7. Our language. I don't believe in ebonics, that is a crock of stuff, but we do have a secret language that others try to infiltrate. Black people got the term 'bootylicious' in the dictionary. I bet a new definition of 'crunk' is next.
8. Our institutions of higher education. During a times when we were denied the opportunity, we made a way.
9. Our music. From Miles Davis to India Arie to Stevie Wonder to Mario. I just love it all!
