My parents often bought things during the year to give me for Christmas, ESPECIALLY if I made a huge deal about something. Then (they recently told me the strategy) they would talk the item up until Christmas to keep me wanting it. LOL! That way, they could get things I wanted and still give them to me.
I was very far from spoiled, and I was brought up to really appreciate
any gift ever given to me. So, I was genuinely happy to receive things even if they were six months old in the world of kid.
