My birthday is in late November, and sometimes coincides with Thanksgiving. (My 21st birthday was on Thanksgiving... no bar crawl for me
) My husband's birthday is in early December, and sometimes falls during Hanukkah.
My birthday celebration always got lumped in with Thanksgiving. It was good because the whole family was together, but I never really had my own day. We always had ice cream cake for Thanksgiving dessert. One year when I was 13 or so, I thought it would be nice to have a pie like most families do, so I asked for apple pie. Guess what I got... ice cream cake.
My parents and in-laws always make a point of getting us separate gifts for our birthdays and the holidays, unless we request otherwise. Other people, not so much... on a few occasions, we've gotten ONE gift intended for my birthday, my husband's birthday, and the holidays.
