I have to agree with everyone and remind you, karma's a b*tch. You have no idea how this whole situation will pan out and you have no real clue as how or why your manager's handling the situation as he is. Even if he is cool with you and your co-workers, that does not mean you are on the same level as your manager or privvy to the same information. You have control over your own work performance - focus on this. Controlling someone else's work performance is not evening the odds, its playing with fire and you might get burned.
