It's looking good! I am heading for a seat on the Board of Directors for the Afghan Communicator. I was worried about the time commitment and suggested possibly creating a Board of Advisors/Advisory Board to do research and perform other functions (a great way to get local professionals in the community to come on board!) for the Board of Directors. BUT, I just met with the Chair of the BoD who completely sold me on the idea of the BoD. It's a good time commitment, but it's worth it.

I'm excited about the possibilities. And, I found out that they specifically approached me because of my deep interest in inter/multiculturalism.

I was very pleased when she told me that this organization looks for a diverse group to lead the AC because they recognize the benefits. The chairwoman told me about a Jewish board member (who had to resign to care for her newborn) who came with fresh ideas and helped the organization make significant strides. So wONEderful!
ETA: I know they have an "Advisory Committee" but these people aren't as involved with the day to day operation of the org as the Board of Advisors I was talking about. That was just an idea anyway - the name would surely be different.
