Ah, walkout...those halcyon days of yesteryear when the AM's kidnapped actives, sometimes as they were walking out of class on a Friday (having already procured the guy's toothbrush, in one instance) and dragged them to another chapter for a weekend of male bonding and debauchery.

Speaking as an elder GC statesman, I won't go into details because we try to lead by example & precept, yadayadayada.

When I was a sophomore, I was one of the kidnapped actives. We trundled up to Wisconsin-Whitewater for the aforementioned activities, but what I remember most is the trip back to school.

The car I was traveling in stopped for a potty break, and I was the last one to use the facilities. As I stepped into the gas station parking lot, I was met w/a hail of gravel. Yup...my bro's peeled out of the lot and left me stuck in beautiful Mendota, IL. Nowadays, some newspaper would probably say I'd filed a lawsuit against them (pranks aren't the same anymore).

I went to the local grocer and used an old lettuce box to make a sign that said "Bloomington-Normal". I was standing by Rte. 51 for just a few minutes when a souped-up Plymouth RoadRunner pulled over to give me a lift.

Turns out the driver was my age, but had enlisted in the Air Force and was heading down to visit buddies @ Chanute AFB near Champaign. I hopped in to this monster car and we headed down 51 @ 85MPH.

The best part of this whole thing was that I got back to the house before the guys that dumped me. They walked in while I was standing in line for brunch--all I can do is smile when I think of how their jaws dropped when they saw I'd beaten them back to school.

ZAX,
BF
