What happened? I wasted a 1/2 hour of my life that I'll never get back

I don't know why I keep giving this stupid show chances...in a nutshell...
1) Joan was upset with William because he went home to his family for Thanksgiving..he showed up at her house worried because she didn't pick him up from the airport and didn't answer the phone...Joan in her passive way starts pulling out all the food she cooked when she spent Thanksgiving at the house by herself because this was their first American holiday as a couple and should have been together. William's stance was I asked you said no - Joan was you didn't push it. They had scenes with Joan talking to Toni while Will talked to his boss (who said the funniest line.."What you didn't hit that yet? I told you Joan was nuts!") so when they were doing this big break up scene the writers did a 360 and had them stay together
another sharp jumped!
2) Maya was dealing with issues regarding wanting to write, following her dream, selling her own book. Took a job at a law firm and quit cuz the boss was just crazy. What got me was Maya was trying to sell her book and a lady told her someone was selling her book bootleg at the swap meet - as she is complaining to Lynn - Lynn's face turns red - turns out its Lynn (who was trying to earn money for a car). Lynn bought the car and offered to sell it to give Maya money to go out and sell her book in other cities. I would straight beat Lynn within an inch of her life...she is so trifling beyond words...someone with 10 degrees should be able to make her own money without constantly taking advantage of the people she claims are her friends.
That made me so mad I barely paid attention to the end.
