Nope, you need a valid school email address. I'm not sure if alumni email addresses work, but they wouldn't let me sign in since my school email address is no longer valid. You need to really be a colleagiate.
It's like Friendster... my brother was home from college this weekend and we spent like an hour while I tried to think of people I knew who might still be in school.
