I have a Bank of America debit card with a visa logo on it. It also has my pic and signature on the front.
I don't get charged for either type of transaction and both show up almost immediately online.
Basically for me when using this card, credit is done at restaurants and places that don't take debit. But at places where you swipe the card yourself, I usually do debit b/c then I don't have the hassle of them wanting to check my card for my signature, etc.
PS-it is really annoying when people ask for extra ID on my debit visa card when i use it for credit since it has my picture (and i haven't changed) and my signature on the front AND back.
