I always tell my students to "Develop Better Listening Skills" because I explain the directions verbally and visually, however, there's always a few students that don't pay attention to the instructions. I also don't allow my students to chew gum in the classroom so I always tell them to do the following: "To hit it and hit it hard!" (They know that it means to put your gum in the wastebasket!).
Finally, when they want to clown around during the lesson they know that I don't put up with foolishness because I always say the following: "It's not a game!" or "What do you think that it's a game?"

I'm scared a you!
My current pet peeve, though I used to like it, is when people try to get me to talk to hear my accent.
AND
My roommate is starting to get to me with her constant comment of "Ewww! What is that SMELL?" No matter what I'm cooking: lasagna, mac n cheese, stir fry, etc. So, that's my really focused pet peeve.
