No AEPi Hazing at Muhlenberg

The College's chapter of Alpha Epsilon Pi (AEPi) fraternity had its suspension from both its national organization and the College lifted late Friday afternoon.

According to Chris Jachimowicz, Director of Student Leadership Development and Greek Affairs, the national organization of AEPi sent a final report to the College after conducting an investigation into AEPi's new member initiation behaviors.

Last week, nationals and the College suspended AEPi after Jachimowicz received a phone call from a parent of a new member who was concerned about the length of new member initiation.

During the conversation, the parent described events that could be considered hazing.

Jachimowicz, in turn, contacted AEPi's nationals who suspended the College's chapter pending an investigation.

On Friday at about 4:00 p.m., Jachimowicz received the final report about the investigation.

He said the investigation conducted by a member of the national organization "found no evidence of actual physical hazing."

AEPi's nationals, therefore, lifted the suspension of the College's chapter. The College then lifted its own suspension.

Rest of the Story
