So true...I felt the same way the summer after my freshman year. I decided to come home this summer because this past year was very stressful, and I was ready to get away from Providence for a spell. Plus, I'm preparing for a semester abroad. I probably shouldn't have come home for the entire summer, but what doesn't kill me will make me stronger.
I do realize that not everyone has the luxury of not going home for the summer...some people have to work, take care of younger siblings, what have you. I also realize that for some, home isn't that great of a place, and coming back to it can be hard. I have many friends who came out during college and will not return to my small Southern town for any length of time.
So, just hang in there, and even if you have to go back home every summer, it's never as bad as the first summer home.
