I know alot about the school, I almost went there myself at one point! UNC has an awesome Greek system. My best friends big sister is an ADPi there, as well as four good friends from HS. I have a few friends in Tri Delt there, one in Phi Mu, and one in Pi Phi, plus, I dated a Phi Delt there for quite a while so I know a bit about their system. Actually, ECU is in Greenville, I'm thinking you're thinking about UNCC, which is in Charlotte....trust me, mention ECU at UNC, and you'll get a few responses, every year we get Carolina people down for our Halloween celebration and often we road trip down to UNC for Carolina's....It's INSANITY at both locations!
As for the rushing thing, all of my friends rushed as Freshmen, during formal. I've heard that a good amount of Sophmores go through too b/c there are quite a few transfers. I've heard that it's best to go thru during formal, and that REC's will definitely help, esp. if you want ADPi or Tri Delt. Most of the houses do have informal though, I know for sure that DZ did, I'd have to ask my friends about the others. Since you went through and turned down a bid at the old school, you should be just fine, if it's been one year (correct me if I'm wrong you guys in GC land.....)and I don't really see how it could hurt you or how they'd even know unless you brought it up.
