i know TONS of people who say "pahk the cah" and "retahded" etc...
but there is another boston accent that is lesser known... the "society" Boston accent. My grandmother grew up in Newton (classy Boston suburb) and has almost an affected English accent, as do her sisters and many women (although more of her generation than younger generations...) and even some men, all of whom are wealthy and from the suburbs, Beacon Hill, West Roxbury etc.
