CRMSNTiDEGRL717, I know what you mean about different accents within the state. I was watching Loveline once back when I was in school, and this guy called in when this really strong accent. I looked at my friends and said, "He's got to be from south Alabama." Sure enough, a couple of seconds later his name popped up and next to it was "Dothan, Alabama." Cracked me up.
But I think my favorite southern thing is this:
Waitress: "What would you like to drink?"
Customer: "A coke."
Waitress: "OK, what flavor?"
Does that happen anywhere but the south?
