People never understood this though, they would yell and scream and demand to see the manager. They thought I was just being lazy(you know the usual dumb teenager). It was great to see them get all embarassed when the manager told them the same thing. If you want to see a great collection of stupid customers rent "Clerks", you will feel their pain.
What is it with customers and the mythical "IN THE BACK"? I got this all the time when I worked at K-Mart in high school, and even now that I work at a copy place (that sells some paper and pens and stuff). In college one of my friends worked at the Limited and got it all the time to. What do customers think "IN THE BACK" is? The secret place we hide ALL of our stock so they can't purchase it? Does this sound familiar?

Customer: Do you have any more of this item? There are no more on the shelf.

Me: No, I'm sorry. We're all out.

Customer: Well, could you go check IN THE BACK for me?

Me: There aren't any in the back. We keep those ALL STOCKED out front. What you see is what we have.

Customer: Oh. Are you SURE there aren't any more in the back?

Me: Yes.

Customer: Well, could you go check?

Me: No. We don't stock ANYTHING like that in the back. We restock our shelves with our deliveries EVERY morning. I'm sorry (*walk away quickly from the crazy lady before she can harass me further*)

And it's only women that do this. Guys just accept it and move on with their life.
